My name is Ann and I’m a linguist and product management professional by training and international marketer by trade.
I’m passionate about how humans interact with our digital world and the internet, and having studied conversation analysis, sociophonetics, and ethnography, I am fascinated by the subtleties of how we talk to our devices and technologies, and in particular, how those interactions can result in mistakes.
I am also a new “unmarried woman” homeowner and co-parent, so I also spend a lot of time making this house I bought a real nest of my own. I’m doing my best to create good childhood experiences for my kids and I have no doubt I’m committing a bunch of errors there, as all parents do.
I joke about user error a lot in my daily life. My hope for this blog is a that it celebrates the ways humans and computers mess up (and maybe my mess-ups in particular). Navigating this human-physical-spiritual experience is hard stuff and it didn’t come with a user manual (although, does anyone look at them anyway?).
